Civil services in Italy are legal marriage ceremonies fully recognized throughout the World. Civil ceremonies may be celebrated in the city halls of any Italian town, but with its location in the unaltered medieval main square and historic center, the Town Hall of Cortona is a particularly ideal location for a wedding.
The Town Hall of Cortona was built in the thirteenth century and is exquisitely frescoed, making it one of the loveliest town halls in Tuscany. Your wedding will be the only one celebrated at the town hall on the day and will also be at your disposal after the ceremony for photographs.
Beautifully conducted in Italian and translated into English by our interpreter, the ceremony can be enriched with special readings and music, and the couple may exchange their personal vows during the exchanging of the rings. The end of the ceremony will be celebrated with a Champagne toast; it is much more than a simple ceremony with a Justice of the Peace at a registry office!
Either the mayor or a borough council clerk will conduct the wedding. After the ceremony, the Municipality of Cortona kindly offers special gifts t the newlyweds and Italian spumante to the guests. We are consistently impressed with style and organization of weddings here, and Cortona’s location close to our villas makes it a perfect choice for a ceremony to be followed by a reception at one of our venues.
The couple must complete certain documents here in Italy prior to the ceremony. A specialist assigned by Romantic Italian Weddings will assist you fully in this aspect, no matter your citizenship. You are requested to have two (2) witnesses for the ceremony; they can be two members of the wedding party, such as the maid of honor and best man, your parents, or other members of the party.
